Skypace provides a shipper-facing platform that enables customers to execute ocean freight shipments using both Maxton’s carrier contracts and their own negotiated agreements, supported by sourcing analytics and structured cost-based decision making across the supply chain.

The platform supports quoting, booking, documentation management, and real-time shipment tracking through direct integrations with major ocean carriers, including Maersk, CMA CGM, and Hapag-Lloyd. Supporting services such as inland transportation, customs clearance, cargo insurance, and 4PL coordination are managed within the same execution framework.

Skypace is used for active freight operations and is designed to automate standardized processes while applying human expertise where regulatory accuracy, coordination, and customer communication are required.

The Account Manager - Ocean Freight is responsible for managing customer relationships and overseeing the execution of ocean freight shipments across international trade lanes. The position exists to provide continuity between sales commitments, operational execution, and customer communication throughout the shipment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor shipment milestones including booking confirmation, cargo receipt, vessel departure, arrival, and release;
  • Identify execution risks related to schedules, capacity, documentation, or compliance.

Exception and Issue Management

  • Proactively manage rollovers, delays, documentation discrepancies, and service disruptions;

  • Support customer onboarding and platform usage, including visibility and reporting features;
  • Use system data to track service performance and recurring issues.

Account Development Support

  • Identify opportunities to expand services within existing accounts, including inland, customs, or insurance;
  • Coordinate with sales and pricing teams on renewals, rate changes, and volume planning.

Operational Interfaces:

  • Ocean freight operations, booking, and documentation teams;
  • Carrier representatives and NVOCC partners;
  • Customs brokers, drayage providers, and inland vendors;
  • Sales and pricing teams;
  • Customer logistics and supply chain contacts.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in ocean freight forwarding or related logistics roles;
  • Working knowledge of import, export, and cross-trade ocean freight operations;
  • Familiarity with Incoterms, carrier schedules, and ocean documentation workflows;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active shipments and accounts;
  • Experience working with freight management or logistics technology platforms;
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

This role operates within a live ocean freight execution environment where service quality is determined by coordination, timing, and accuracy. Skypace applies automation to standardized workflows while relying on experienced account managers to maintain customer continuity, manage exceptions, and ensure accountability across the shipment lifecycle.

Professionally, the role offers direct involvement in international freight execution, visibility into carrier performance and trade lane dynamics, and responsibility within a structured operating model that integrates technology with logistics expertise.
